Every rural town has stories worth telling.

Across Australia, small museums and volunteer historical groups work tirelessly to preserve the objects, photographs, records, and memories that connect communities to their past. Despite their importance, these organisations are often underfunded and overlooked.

Broken but Stronger Historical Studio was created to help keep these stories alive. Inspired by the idea of repairing broken pieces through kintsugi, we transform local history into meaningful artwork, memorabilia, and keepsakes that celebrate resilience, identity, and community.

We believe history should not sit forgotten in storage rooms — it should be shared, celebrated, and carried forward for future generations.

Cards: Broken but Stronger, Gold runs through your Veins.
$15.00
Limit 3 per order

These are on sale at The Man from Snowy River Museum as single cards or as a set of three.

This collection features 3 premium cards — one of each of the artworks:

  • Blue Skies Ahead: Featuring willow patterns

  • Sunday’s Best: A reminder of Nanna’s afternoon tea

  • Happy Days: Bright and cheerful

Created from genuine historic pieces uncovered from Corryong’s first town tip, dating from the 1890s to the 1930s, each design reflects stories of family, hardship, hope, and community. Inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi — repairing broken objects with gold — these artworks remind us that even broken things can become beautiful again.

Perfect as greeting cards, keepsakes, framed mini artworks, or thoughtful gifts, these cards carry a uniquely Australian rural story of strength and survival.

Anniversary Teatowel: Celebrating 70 Years of New Tallangatta, 2026
$15.00
Limit 10 per order

This year, Tallangatta is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the town’s relocation. This limited-edition tea towel features many of the surnames of residents who lived in the town during that significant period in its history.

The surnames have been sourced from the 1954 Electoral Roll and carefully compared with local knowledge and historical records. Every effort has been made to accurately identify and spell each name. We apologise for any unintentional errors or omissions.

These tea towels are available for purchase during the festival with 100% of profits supporting Tallangatta’s Country Women's Association.

Tea towels purchased through this website will contribute directly to the Tallangatta CWA, with 15% of each sale donated to the organisation. The remaining funds support Broken but Stronger Historical Studio, the local creator of this commemorative product.

These tea towels are printed in Australia from organic cotton and environmentally friendly inks
